Hauled Wastewater Program Policy and Fee Update Report

Please review the Hauled Wastewater Program Council Report and Policy approved by Regional Council  November 17th, 2011.  Highlights of the new policy include:

  • Policy, Procedures, and rates will be effective May 1, 2012
  • Registration will begin in January 2012 and must be completed by May 31, 2012
  • A single rate for both hauled wastewater receiving facilities has been adopted to facilitate full cost recovery and phased in over a two-year period.  Full details of the new rate structure are included within the report

Several changes were made to address feedback on the draft policy received at the August 9th, 2011 consultation meeting.  A summary of amendments from the existing policy, to the new policy is attached to the Council report.

York Region has prepared communications for residents on septic systems to explain the rate increases.  This should be distributed within the first quarter of 2012.

All Haulers will begin to receive information on the registration process by January 2012.

If you would like additional information, or have questions, please contact Chris Barlow, Program Manager - Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement, at (905) 830-4444 ext. 5048.  Or you may send an email to sewerusebylaw@york.ca

Thank you for your participation in the development of this policy.  We look forward to mutually beneficial relationships as we continue to extend hauled waste receiving services to the Hauler community.
